The Wolf, the Stag and the Black Madonna:
This painting was done on a Remo drum to incorporate many images. On the front the spirit animals of the wolf, stag and reindeer were placed strategically to create an overall balanced esthetic. To create harmony with the very different images, I put the Black Madonna on the side to represent the client’s search for the mysterious and mystical Black Madonnas all over the world. Also, I represented her crane, raven and stones that were meaningful to her. The mallet was painted to match.
Here is an example how I do a rough sketch to show the client in the shape of the drum (or other surface) how the composition will look for their approval.
